Mission Statement

The Moore Catchment Council is a community body elected from the sub-region to represent the community interest in Natural Resource Management issues to the communities of the Moore River Catchment and the Northern Agricultural Catchments Council.

The vision of the Moore Catchment Council is that there will be a stronger link between people, the economy and the environment. The Moore River drainage system covers an extensive area of land, linking the Shires of Gingin, Dandaragan, Victoria Plains, Moora, Coorow, Dalwallinu, Carnamah and Perenjori. Representation on the Moore Council is drawn from community and local governments from the sub-region.

The philosophy of the Moore Catchment Council is to protect and continue to enhance our natural resources so we have something of value to pass on to our children.

The role of the Moore Catchment Council is to promote integrated catchment management and to co-ordinate efforts in the river catchment to get the most effective action on the ground.

The Moore Catchment Council has consulted widely with the community and listed the community sourced strategies and is now sourcing funds to implement these strategies, leading to effective on ground actions. The Council represents these strategies to the Northern Agricultural Catchment Council for enhance support.

The Natural Resource Management Officers and other Council workers are assisting in the development of a Regional NRM Strategy to better inform funding groups where on round results can be achieved.
